The Challenge

We are seeking Project Managers to execute multiple small to medium sustaining and capital projects. Successful candidates will be client and business focused, with experience managing EP/EPCM projects within Alberta and western Canada. Reporting to the Vice President of Project Services, our Project Managers are dedicated to quality, safety, and results.


Manage initiation, turnover and close-out activities for each progressive project phase

Communicate regularly with both Client and corporate management personnel

Develop Preliminary Engineering scopes of work

Coordinate with technical discipline leads in preparing both Conceptual Engineering and Detailed Engineering design deliverables

Hands on responsibility for project controls activities, which includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Developing and maintaining a project cost estimate

Developing and maintaining a project schedule

Establishing project reporting requirements, and ensuring timely issue of the same

Controlling and reporting project costs

Measuring and reporting project progress

Effectively managing changes in project scope and engineering services

Develop, implement and maintain project-defining documents, such as the Project Execution Plan (PEP), project Quality Plan, and applicable project-specific procedures

Oversee procurement activities

Manage construction support activities

Assess engineering performance for each progressive project phase, documenting lessons learned to be applied on future projects of similar scope

Provide guidance to Project Engineering personnel assigned to common projects

May be required to visit construction & fabrication sites on occasion


Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent

PMP certification is an asset

A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience; a minimum of 5 years of project management experience in an EP / EPCM environment

Experience in managing oil & gas facility projects, particularly those involving fast-tracked heavy oil and/or SAGD facility projects is required

Proven experience in managing Client personnel is required

Ability to coordinate subordinate Project Engineers and technical discipline personnel is required

Strong communication skills are required; this includes verbal communication, technical business writing, electronic communication, and experience with presentations
